Online talk with Matthew McGinity about projects in the Immersive Experience Lab (TU Dresden)
The Immersive Experience Lab (ixlab.io) at TU Dresden conducts interdisciplinary research into the perceptual foundations, technology and applications of immersive media - media in which virtual or remote people, objects or worlds are experienced, in some way, as real and present. In addition to experiments and applications in psychotherapy and cognitive science, education and museums, the lab frequently collaborates with artists to explore the artistic potency of immersive systems. This talk will present a handful of projects and discuss how recent theories of perception and cognition can inform immersive art.
Das Veranstaltungsformat Virtual Artist Lab des SFB 1567 »Virtuelle Lebenswelten« wird von den Teilprojekten A03 Virtuelle Environments und C03 Virtuelle Kunst organisiert. In diesem laden wir Künstler*innen ein, die mit ihren künstlerischen Arbeiten und ihrer Praxis an die Themen virtueller Lebenswelten anschließen, um mit ihnen in einen produktiven Austausch zu kommen.
